Kuwait
Alia Ebraheem, 16, Kuwait
Hi, my name is Alia Ebraheem and I'm 16 years old. I'm half Kuwaiti
and half American. I live all the way over in the small country
of Kuwait. For those who know Kuwait, way to go, and for those
who don't, I don't blame you. Kuwait is basically known for its
oil production, and that's why there was a war fought between
Kuwait and Iraq, a.k.a. the Gulf War. I guess you could say that's
how Kuwait's mainly known.
So anyway, I'd like to give a brief example of a day in my life
in Kuwait. On an average, normal day, I wake up at seven (don't
ask me why, I'm an early bird), and I don't actually get off the
bed until half an hour later. A normal routine! So, I go to an
American private school, because it offers a better education
and offers both Arabic (the native language) and English classes.
I have to wear a uniform, which basically isn't my idea of getting
dressed for school, but hey, I don't make the rules. So I'm off
to school, and I take a taxi, seeing how my mom usually is really
lazy and doesn't bother to take me to school (I don't drive --
the legal driving age here is 18). So, besides almost getting
killed on the way to school by the cab driver, I manage to make
it there.
